Smoking and children’s health
Don't let them breathe your smoke
Passive smoking is such a danger to children because their
bodies are still developing - so they're more sensitive to its
effects. As a result, they are more likely to suffer the
health problems it can cause.
A big problem
You might be surprised by the scale of the problem facing
children. In fact, every year more than 17,000 under-fives in
the UK are admitted to hospital with illnesses caused by their
parents smoking.
Helping kids stay healthy
By giving up smoking, you reduce the risk of diseases like
pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma and a range of other conditions.
What's more, quitting sets a good example - so children are much
less likely to smoke themselves.
