What this services offers

The Fresh Air-shire Specialist Stop Smoking Service provides stop smoking advice and support to smokers who find it most difficult to stop smoking. This service is provided by staff specially trained in helping people to stop smoking. Smokers wanting to stop can join a group support session which runs the same day, time and venue each week (there is no waiting list for group support). The group support sessions normally last about an hour and are run at various locations throughout Ayrshire & Arran. A normal course of group support lasts approximately 12-16 weeks, but clients can keep attending the group if they need more support. The advisor can also provide Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) which is free of charge- for this, they write a voucher which you take to your local pharmacy each week. They can also arrange for you to get other stop smoking treatments such as Zyban and Champix - for these drugs, the advisor will link with your Doctor or pharmacist to arrange this. For people who cannot manage a group, or would prefer an individual appointment with an advisor, they can ask for a one-to-one appointment (there may be a waiting list for one-to-one support). They can provide you with treatments to help you stop smoking the same way as they do for people coming to a group.

Group support sessions are held at various locations and times. For information on the group sessions, please contact the service directly. To request an individual appointment, or telephone support, please contact the service directly. The service can be contacted on freephone 0800 783 9132.
