What this services offers
The 'Give it Up for Baby' scheme offers pregnant women stop smoking support and incentives to stay stopped. Pregnant women can access the scheme within community pharmacies (chemists) or stop smoking groups throughout Tayside. As well as offering support, they can discuss the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in pregnancy, and can offer your partner and/or other household members information on how and where they can get help to quit. Pregnant women will receive 12.50 credit per week, right up until the baby reaches 3 months of age, and this can be used towards food, groceries or baby items. When participants attend their community pharmacy/stop smoking group, they will be asked to breathe into a carbon monoxide testing machine which can tell whether they have been smoking or not.
