NHS Tayside Stop Smoking Service

Details

Individual and group support sessions

Group support sessions are available at local venues across Tayside in Angus, Dundee, Perth and Kinross, and are facilitated by trained smoking cessation advisors. Advice on how to stop smoking, and information about products like nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and other stop smoking medicines, is provided. Some group sessions are run in partnership with the Dundee Healthy Living Initiative. The groups are relaxed, informal and friendly, and the support and encouragement you get from the advisors and the other quitters in the group means that you are much more likely to stop smoking than going it alone. One-to-one support can also be provided on request.

Community pharmacy scheme

Participating pharmacies (chemists) across Tayside offer one-to-one support over a course of 12 weeks, and can provide NRT (which means you don’t need to go to your GP for a prescription).

Pregnancy services

Participating pharmacies also offer access to the 'Give it Up for Baby' scheme which provides specific stop smoking support to pregnant women and offers incentives to stay stopped.

Young people's services

Stop smoking support specifically for young people is also available from trained advisors.
